How to test rear speakers?

How to test rear speakers?
I recently bought an Audi, '89 QT, and learned that the rear speakers dont work. The two front speakers work tho.
In the back...I see two mid-sized and two tweeter like speakers. What would be the best way to test them?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First things first...get a AA battery...
...behind your head unit...touch the + and - of the rear left to the battery terminals. repeat with right. If you hear slight crackling coming from the speakers...then you know your wiring is probably fine.
