I currently have 4" MB Quart separates in the front doors of my A4.......
I'm interested in upgrading to 5.25" separates by using the MB Quart adapters.
Here's the question:
Can I simply replace the 4" woofers with 5.25" woofers, and keep the same tweeters and crossovers?

you can but I'd recommend the same series woofers because of the X-over
I used to have 4" MBquarts. I noticed that the X-over was the same for the 4" and 5.25" models. However, I decided on going with Boston Acoustics Rallys instead. It produced more bass than the 5.25" MB Quart but that's another story...

Not really. The crossovers are set for the frequency response that best suits that driver. While
the high pass filter will most likely be the same as the majority of component speakers use 1" tweeters, the low pass filter will probably be higher than the one that comes with the bigger woofer. Result, you're not getting all the base from the larger driver than you could if you purchased a new component set with a matched crossover.
