i have heard conflicting reports as to whether or not this can be done without souding like crapola.
if so are the speakers wired normally to the new amp (+ and -), or do they need to keep thier "common ground" setup?
TIA!

...like under an ohm. If true I doubt the aftermarket amp will be able to drive them. If you have a multimeter, try measuring the resistance across one of the speakers terminals. If the DC resistance is below an ohm, then my understanding is correct and I dont think you can use them.

Except, don't ask me how it was done because I didn't do it...installer did.
Details:
I have a 96 with the Bose system. I tried to hook up a Blaupunkt headunit myself, but ended up doing a half-assed job. Eventually took the thing to an installer, and they put an amp in and everything sounds great. I also have a stealthbox in the back, but I think the speakers are probably more than adequate without it.
