Default I think i blew one of the rear speakers on my MY01 Bose...suggestions needed please.

Its a completely stock Bose stereo...what is a good replacement speaker for those rears? I don't want to spend a ricockulous amount of money, i just want to buy something that i can find at Best Buy or a place like that, which can handle the fair amount of bass the music i listen to has. Thanks for any ideas...

Default Speakers are extremely subjective...

Unlike a tuner or amp, which can pretty much be bought on the basis of specs, you really need to listen to speakers to find a sound you like. I have had people recommend speakers that I thought sounded absolutely awful. Listen to a bunch of speakers at the audio dealer and buy the ones that sound best to you.

Default The Bose speakers are not your standard 4-Ohm car audio speakers--they

are of lower impedance--1 or 2-Ohm from what I remember (search the archives). As a result, it's not easy to remove the Bose driver and replace with an aftermarket product.

Default You may need to replace amps too.

As Joohn P. pointed out, I think the Bose uses a low impedance driver (like 1-2 ohms). This means the amp in there can summon a lot of current but likely not as much voltage as you may want with higher impedance aftermarket drivers. Also most Bose eq the amp to compensate for the speaker and car acoustics. An aftermarket driver may come off sounding funny because this eq cant be easily changed (not the one in the head unit - that is easy to change).
