I already have a Panasonic head unit and new speakers all around(running off the head unit) and I want a cheap upgrade for some more bass. I want something relatively small and lightweight so I think I'll go with a 10. Whats a good setup for around $300? Thanks alot

nothing prefab IMO...
ANY shop should build you a nice standard size box (square or rectangle) for any 10" or 12" sub for $100 or less. And that's carpeted to match as well. At many shop, this cost actually includes the labor for the amp install, but not wiring. Amp wiring should run ~$50 depending on the quality of RCA's used. You don't need ultra expensive RCAs, but you don't want their cheapest line either.
You can get many good 10 or 12" subs for $100. So that puts you around $250 un-taxed. That doesn't leave much room for the amp however. You want something that will do 100w for the sub as a general minimum for any 10" or 12" sub. You don't need gobs of power, and it doesn't sound like you want it.
You can pick up a nice amp that will do this kind of power for around $150. That puts you roughly $100-150 over your budget, but IMHO, it's worth the cash.
Your only other options are something prefab and integrated like bazooka tubes or the basslink. All bazooka tubes suck, and the basslink, while being a nice unit for the price, just does not compare to a nice sub, box, and amp, and I think anyone will tell you that.

What do you think about this setup?
JBL 300 watt subwoofer amp $192
JL audio 12" W3 series subwoofer in sealed enclosure $130
Both are brand new and I can get the install done pretty cheaply. Is this a good setup for the money?
