Questions about pattjin's system ...
Can you control your A/V Receiver from the AVD-W8000, or do you have to use the remote supplied with the A/V Receiver? Also, which reciever do you have ... AVM-P7000R, P8000R, or P9000R?

Re: Questions about pattjin's system ...
I can control the A/V receiver from the AVD-W8000. If you do go ahead and use the AVD-W8000, you'll have sync problems when you switch between the A/V outputs and the Navigation. I have to flip through the sources a few times to make it sync properly, also, the TV tuner and DVD player video don't come through properly. I had to wire those to the rca inputs on the AVD-W8000.
I think the AVD-W8000 was meant more for rear entertainment, but it fits so nicely in the front of my A4, I'm willing to live with the "workarounds" until they make one that will work properly. (the AVD-W6000 should work properly, but it's too small)
The AVD-W8000 passes all the remote control information through the sensor eye via the RGB cable (you need the special RGB cable (CD-65RGB), you can't just use anyone that fits (i tried)).
I have the AVM-P9000R, GEX-P7000TV, AVIC-9DVD, XDV-P9, 6 disc cd changer.
Hope this helps.
