Default JL Audio 8W7 Subwoofer in the JL Audio ProWedge Enclosure installed in Audi TT!

An authorized JL Audio installer (in Alaska) did it all for me although I provided valuable information from the Audiworld TT Forum to make the install easier.

It's powered by the JL Audio 500/1 amp with the bass controller, both hidden away. I provided the instructions on how to remove the rear seat and get to the Bose amp. I gave them the picture from the Bentley manual for detaching the cargo cover (the one that folds) from the trunk so that they could run the power from the JL Audio amp back to the battery (I have a 3.2 which has the battery in the trunk). All in all, no wires were needed to be routed any further forward than the back seats. I also provided the wiring for the Bose amp which took the guess work out of most of the wiring issues. (Don't ask me what they did but it works In addition to all of that, I also provided a few pictures of other TT members that have hidden the amp in the cavity where the stock Bose Amp is located (behind where the first aid kit's cubby hole is). Giving them all of this made it a fairly fast (and cheaper for me) install than they expected.

The bass controller is in the cubby hole that the first aid kit is in which makes for an easy reach to adjust it on the fly. There's a rubber plug at the bottom of the cubby that can be removed to run the bass controllers wire in there. The JL Audio 500/1 amp was kind of a squeeze getting it in the void but they did it. The enclosure fits perfectly in the trunk. In fact, I can slide it over to one side, put down the passenger's side back seat and still have room for my rolling duffel/luggage bag back in there for travel. And if need be, I can remove the entire enclosure. Under hard acceleration, it doesn't budge all that much. Under hard breaking it just stays there because it's right up against the back seats. When doing some spirited cornering, it will move around just a tad.

As far as the bass in concerned, this thing hits hard. From a distance, you can definitely hear it but it's not intrusive. So driving down your neighborhood at a reasonable volume won't **** the neighbors off unless you're in their driveway. I even got in a friends car, parked next to it and with their radio on, I barely noticed the bass from my car. Once you hop in though, it is an incredible feat on what this 8" sub can create. It complements the Bose stereo perfectly.

Default I'm still loving my 10W7 ProWedge.

Default Nice! I'm thinking I will be trading up to that in a few years...

since I have the 500/1. But that 8W7 is more than enough for that little TT Coupe so I'm not sure.
