Default Just got an MP3 Playa and I love it!

I'ts a "FrontierLabs NexII" It's about the size of a Cigarette Pack. I put a 1GigIBM MicroDrive in it and use it with an adapter for my S4!
I THINK it can hold the equivalent of 1000 cd's worth of music on the 1Gig Drive(is that right?)
I can't tell the difference in sound quality from normal cd's (maybe if I "A/B" test it, I could tell). It's the greatest thing since sliced bread!
I'm glad I'm now on the MP3 Bandwagon!

Default Not quite 1000 CD's worth... but several for sure...

At 128 kbps encoding (the usual for most MP3s) you're getting approximately one minute of music for each meg of storage. So a one gig drive will store roughly 1000 minutes of music. A typical audio CD can have as much as 72 minutes of music, so you're looking at almost 14 CDs packed onto that tiny microdrive. Which is a hell of a thing.

I'm looking to build a more permanent solution into my A4, using at least 6.8 gigs (spare drive I've got laying around), but who knows... 5400 RPM drives are getting dirt cheap... could pack a 40 in there... now that would be a disgusting amount of music at your finger tips... I've only got about 3 gigs of MP3s anyway though so it'll prolly be the 6.8 for me.

I shoulda known it was too good to be true!
Still, approx 14 cd's worth is pretty darn good!
Have fun with your setup!

Default Don't be so excited on the 1000 cd bit.maybe 200 tunes or so

I have the PhatBox with a 6 gig HD and I am able to get about 1200 tunes with 192 kbps sampling.

Default PERFECT!

seriously though... that will sound absolutely amazing in a tt. I have one perfect 12" and it is nasty, plus the PG are really nice.

After getting my system, I stopped d/l ing so many mp3s because a lot of them sound downright ****ty on my system. A real CD sounds so much better, I've actually started buying them again.
