im knocking the fact that you only purchased a sub of that great a quality. you almost have to upgrade the speakers as well so you dont drown them out with your sub.

I don't consider it a waste. Let me give you a few reasons why (don't know why I'm bothering, but whatever):
1. This sub will go lower (down to 24hz at -3dB) than any other sub I know in the same size box. This is important to me in a sub.
2. This sub is more accurate than any other sub that can produce it's output for the price I got it for.
3. It requires a very small enclosure overall (relative to ALL subs)
4. Overall, I'd rather pay $100 more on my sub and not use 50% of it's capability. Obviously, if the sub is not working hard, then it's going to sound a hell of a lot better than one that is.
So you see, even if I were to go with a cheaper sub, there's a very good likelihood that it wouldn't meet one of my needs. I spent $325 shipped on the sub, and $240 shipped on the amp. I got the sub new in the box, but from someone who had bought one too many and didn't need it. The amp was used. So for $565 plus about $50 bucks in box building materials, I got a sub that will put most to shame and still fit nicely in my trunk (I still have full spare tire functionality). Makes good fiscal sense to me.

sub was N.I.B. but I bought from someone who bought one too many, so I didn't get a warranty. As a long time Adire customer, I knew this wouldn't be an issue. The amp was used, but works great. Materials for my box and the install ran me about $100, and I spent about 8 hours building it.

I know much more about home audio manufactures and thier respective quality.

and they were terrific subs, but they most definately can NOT compete anywhere near the level of a Brahma. Adire's been big in home audio for a while now with their Shiva's and Tempests.
Definately very high quality and excellent sounding subs.

it was extremely tight, maybe just a hair less accurate than my brahma. It could go mighty low too, especially for a small sealed enclosure, but the Brahma just blows it away in terms of output and extension.
As Jarrod said, Adire started in the Home Theater industry, and moved to car audio when people started using their Shivas and Tempests in cars. Those speakers require very large enclosures (I've got a 10 cubic foot ported sonosub tempest ported to 18 hz in my house), so they made a woofer specifically for the car audio industry, the Brahma. They've now trumped even the Brahma in the home theater world with their Tumult. That thing is just an Uber-sub, and it uses the same XBL^2 motor technology as the Brahma. I've personally spoken with the president of the company, Dan Wiggins, on many occasions, and you will not meet a more helpful, friendly salesman out there. He, and Adire in general have had my business for 4 years, and they will continue to get it.
