I am a car audio competitor and there IS a difference in sound reproduction and purity of signal from a McIntosh and many other amplifiers. I have FIRST HAND experience on identical drivers w/ different amplification in the EXACT same setup. Now...whether you will notice the difference or not is subjective, because everybody's ears are different. I could DEFINATELY tell the difference when i was a SQ (sound quality) competitor, but since i entered the SPL (sound pressure level) arena...my hearing went downhill, lol. Amplification is ALMOST as important as the quality of driver it's powering when it comes to SQ. IMO McIntosh amps are the BEST money can buy. For the record...Richard Clark is an idiot with a big ego who really gets no REAL respect from any of us who KNOW the game.
