My 2004 A8 has developed an MMI problem. Ten seconds after the screen pops up it closes. When it does pop up everything is frozen. The diagnostic test by a third party Audi service says the MMI control module is defective.

It appears to be very easy to change but will it need reprogramming if I DIY it.

Is there a source for used controllers or low priced units?

The quote I got was $655 for unit and $170 for labor.
