Posted this elsewhere but figured this might be a better place for it...
So with my recently purchased 2006 S4 Avant came the MMI and DVD navigation plus, 6-cd changer, etc. I've been trying to figure out the best way to play MP3s with this.
I've discovered that MP3 CDs will not be read if put into the 6-CD changer, so that option is out. The only way to play MP3 CDs is in the in-dash DVD-ROM which contains the navigation DVD. The downfall here is that I can't use the navigation simultaneously. Kind of a downer.
The two SD card slots can supposedly play MP3s. However, according to the manual the max size of the SD cards can only be up to 256 mb, making it fairly useless for the storage of MP3s.
Has anybody tried larger size SD cards? Is it just that back in 2006 larger size SD cards were hard to find or different formats?
Will the DVD-ROM play MP3 DVDs? It doesn't seem to state it would, but I'm not sure why it couldn't?
If anyone has more clarification on this version of the MMI system, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

I can't answer as to 2006, but the current MMI allows much larger SD cards, the limit appearing to be the number of files, something I've not hit as I don't like MP3 and also have a lot of long tracks on my SD cards.

After a little more research, I've discovered that my setup is not technically MMI, even though that's what it states upon turning on. I actually have the RNS-E. Going to try a couple of 2 GB SD cards and see what happens. DVD MP3s are a no go.
