But heres my question if i have a 15" Sealed plexiglass box and i have 1 15" MTX Thunder 5500 Sub. DVC 4 ohm RMS 300 Watts. And if i get another same kind what kind of amp should i run with it? 2 ohm or 4 ohm? i dont wanna go any higher than 300 watts each sub.

Thanks Guyz,

Default Re: MTX Question

Get a new box...IMHO if its a bandpass box ..i just dislike how they sound and look. I have 2 MTX 15" 8000 in a regular sealed box and it sounds very clean..i am sure with a tuned box it would sound much better but i dont turn it up much more anyways.

i just switched to a kenwood 2ohm amp...i forget the model number i could get it if u wanted and it is louder than the two MTX 8302 amps i first ran the subs with.. the only way you could run a system at 2 ohms is if the MTX 5500 is 2 ohm stabel...i know my 8000 are but i am not sure about the 5500 u will have to check..

My opion build a tuned box.. get a 2ohm stable amp/amps if the sub is 2ohm stable and you should be good.. but if u want only 300 watts per sub...go 4ohmz route
