the amp started on fire after 2 months of usage, best buy said it shouldn't do that so it might be installer's fault also it was never pumped over 3/4 power.. any ideas? the amp is a boss 1000w.

could be a grounding problem where the current arced between the power wire binding posts... Also, how was the amp ventilated? if you have an amp that's between the back of the seat and the subwoofer box, for example, it can get REALLY hot in there. Finally, what kind of amp was it? If it was a Pyramid or something I'm surprised it made it out of the store before it caught fire ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I hate to say it, but only a fool would buy a Boss Audio 1000W amp and think it'd push a real 1000W load. Boss makes really crappy components, mate!
