Oh man, how I wanted to spend the money on mods for my A4.........but nothing compares to watching Football, WRC, &amp; Movies on this thing!

Not to mention Best Buy is doing a 24 months free fianancing through today for A/V purchases of over $499 (and they mispriced this in the store by $400....what a bargin).<ul><li><a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11124602&amp;m=1&amp;cat=24&amp;scat= 25">Philips 60 inch Widescreen Rear-Projection HDTV Monitor with D-Sub Input and 2-Tuner PIP</a></li></ul>

Default for the extra money, i haven't seen anything that can touch this in the price range...

this <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11100118&amp;m=1&amp;cat=24&amp;scat= 25">panasonic lcd</a> was sitting next to the 15k pioneer flat panel, and the picture clarity of the panasonic was quite better. it has a matte finish on the screen so you do not get all that glare and feedback. not to mention the computer monitor input. the overall looks are kinda yuck though with those weird leg things...good deal on your new tv though, especially that 400 dollar mistake!!

Default I was looking at that model this afternoon...

I was very tempted by the 24 month deal, but I just bought the house and all... gotta be fiscally responsible for the next few months... bleh... :-)

Though I was scouting the HDTV setups I ended up with more questions then answers. Ideally I'd like one that can do split screen PIP (I think some Toshibas do that) with a VGA/SVGA or DVI input that will accept a computer input for HTPC applications in addition to the normal compliment of component and s-video inputs.

After that it comes down to picture quality... though it's hard to really judge in the store becuase I'm not really at the right viewing height for most of em. I looked like a dumbass crouching down to see what the picture looked like from a "couch" position.

Let me know how you like the Phillips though. Had a great picture and probably the most living room friendly exterior to boot.

Default Hokie... I know the feeling....we just refinanced after owning the house for a year...

and the extra breathing room ($$) we gained helped out a lot. My wife and I said that this TV is something we both have wanted to get since we got out of college (not necessarily this on but something in this range), so we decided since we did well with the refinance we should splurge. Those LCD/Plasma TV's were calling our name at Best Buy, but they are way our of our price range. If I could afford those, I would be posting in the S4/RS4 forum.

Thanks!

BTW: I had a couple of good friends who went to Bleaksburg. What year did you graduate? Are the Hokies going to be a Football Force this year, as they are most years?

Default V V V V look below V V V V that's what i was talking about...

all that in a $3k price tag, and the picture on that thing was absolutely amazing. it blew the rest of the floor models away on hdtv, the difference was really worth the price...especially vga computer inputs!!!!

Default Ya that one was tempting....but the $3,000 price tag was what we couldn't do.

We wanted to get a new DVD progressive scan player and new AR/Monster cables too. Also we got the 4yr in home/no questions asked service agreement. All that plus the TV was less than this TV alone. Not to mention we go 10 extra inches on the rear projection. If you have all this other stuff, then yes, I would recommend getting an LCD/Plasma TV especially at that price.

Default Projection HDs are good but I will hold off until I can afford a Plasma

a good friend of mine bought the Pioneer Elite 60'' HD and brought it back after two weeks, I was disappointed with the picture quality also, the picture quality was pretty good when playing DVDs but regular TV sucked since only a few stations have HD shows, plus the picture was good when sitting at a certain angle which was really annoying..
42" Plasmas are around $5500 already, soon they should be in the 3500-4500 range.

Default Jump on that. I may refinance again. I have a local Mortgage broker that will get below 6% with no

fees or points. I just have to pay the appraisal fee. A friend is using them now, so I will see if it is too good to be true.
They are called Fidelity Mortgage out of Detroit...I dunno if they are Nationwide.
