Default NAV inputs on Symphony II

I have a Garmin NAV that I have hardwired to my allroad but I would like to take it a step further... The inputs on 10pin connector IV are not used by the factory. I have already done a handsfree kit using the phone input and muting but would liek to do the same for NAV.

Question: How is the NAV input "triggered" to provide mixed audio with the radio?

Bentley identifies the pins as NAV audio +, NAV audio -, and NAV Control on the back of the Sym II... obviously the audio from my nav will feed the two audio inputs but with only those hooked up I get no audio... so I'm assuming the control pin needs to be triggered - any ideas?

You need to take the Nav control pin to gnd and it lowers the audio and plays what is on the nav +/- . Most nav systems have a line that goes to ground to mute radios when they are talking.

That is what I assumed but I didn't want to ground it and find out something bad!

Now I need to get some kind of soundgate gadget/relay that will do it automatically since the Garmin won't support it natively.

Thanks for the confirmation.
