Default Need Bluetooth car kit help

I finally got around to installing a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car kit in my 99.5 A4 Avant today. The box is in the back with the CD changer and such, and I utilized the DB25 connector back there. Everything works beautifully... except for the microphone.

Here's what I did. The kit came with a microphone that plugs into the box with a mini plug. I cut that plug and ran the wires to the DB25; the red wire (I assumed that was the positive) to pin 15 and the bare wires (I assumed that was the negative) to pin 14. I tried it first using the Audi mic and it didn't work; from what I've read on here I figured it wouldn't. I then pulled the stock mic and tried splicing in the kit mic. I tried wiring it both ways (red wire on kit mic to the white wire on the stock wiring and bare wires on the kit mic to the bare wires on the stock wiring, and vice versa). Nothing worked.

So, what am I doing wrong? Short of running the kit mic from the back of the car to the front, how can I make this work?

Thanks,
Mike

Default Sounds like you did everything correct....

The only thing I can say is recheck all your connections maybe its hooked up incorrectly somewhere. Sounds like your trying that avenue though.

Also you might want to look into the bluetooth side of things. I had a similar issue with my T608 and the BT kit. It wouldn't work because of bluetooth issues, although I doubt this is your issue.

Not really much help but good luck.

Default That's what I was thinking :-)

The mic worked fine when it was directly plugged into the box; at every stage of doing the soldering I checked things to make sure they were working. It was all fine until I got to the microphone part.

I just really don't want to have to run a microphone cable from the back of the car to the front...

Default Try pin20=shield for the BT mic, and pin 14 for mike +. Auid mike uses pin 15 as +12V to power....

the electret condenser mike in the car.

Default Didn't work...

... but I think it might be because of my poor soldering. I'm going to get a new DB25 connector tomorrow and give it a try. I'll report back.
