alright i have sort of a dilema and i guess i need help figureing out what kind of amplifier to buy... say i have a 500 watt rms subwoofer with dual voice coils (250 watts a coil) and the description is as follows:
For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 3" 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2 ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8 ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4 ohm load. what amplifier specifications should i be looking for to get maximum power, and what wiring configuration would i use to get maximum power? thanks!

you'll want to wire it parellel and find a mono amp and run it 2 ohm stable.
if you have two subwoofers with two 4 ohm coils each, you can wire the coils in parellel and the subs in parellel and find an amp that runs 1 ohm stable.
also if you have two subwoofers with two 4 ohm coils each, you can wire the coils in series and the subs in parallel and find an amp that run 4 ohm stable.
