Default Need pics of aftermarket H/U installed (longish)

What is a good match for Audi red interior illumination.
Also, are there any aftermarket head units that will do RDS as my stock unit doesas well as MP3 playback
Thanks

Default Becker Monza 7887 MP3

I'm very happy with it. It looks awesome, the color is a perfect match and its design is similar to the oem.

How do you like the Becker? I've been looking at that same stereo for my Mercedes.

Default It's cool.

Although I'm starting to believe that it's a bit over-rated. Its high price is more due to its brand name and high german labor cost, rather than its high end quality, really. I don't regret buying it, but at that moment there was nothing else that could match the Audi interior design and lighting. I can say that its design and illumination is very clean and good looking, but apart from that, I think that a good japanese HU would be a better performer than the Becker.

Sounds about what I expected. I like the Becker mostly because it would look right in my car and has the features I'm looking for. I'm sure an Alpine or something else would be better; it just wouldn't look the same.

Default Exactly, you have to weigh things between appearance and performance.

I care more about the first one. The Becker offered that, while it was a relatively good performer. In no way, could I buy a HU just because of its quality and high end features, while it has like 4 different colored lighted buttons on it.

Default We must think the same about stereos

That's why I still have the stock Concert in my A4. Of course, now I have it set up to run both the CD changer and the iceLink for my iPod, and I'll likely be adding my own amplifier and speakers (I've had the car for only six months). And it will look exactly like it came from the factory.

My girlfriend used to have a Pioneer head unit in her car... one of those ones with 86 different colors, or so it seemed. Not only could I never figure out how the thing worked, the thing was ugly.

Default Haha

Yeah, I know what you mean about your gf's HU. The Becker was the best solution for me. I needed to get an aftermarket HU, since I was upgrading my sound system too. I needed sth which would let me adjust the sub volume and would offer RCA exits for 5 channels (I have a 5ch. amp). So, the Becker was so good looking and oem illuminated that people don't even notice the existence of it All other HUs looked funny to me (no offense to NE1).

Looks is a whole matter of mentality to me. I care about it a lot on every aspect of my life, like dressing, styling my car, cell phone and everything.

Default Re: Haha

I'm with you on looks... I'm pretty picky about how things appear, and having a stereo in the Audi that doesn't look like it belongs there just wasn't going to happen.

As for the Mercedes, another reason I'm liking the Becker (aside from it looking right) is that it looks pretty easy to intergrate a cell phone car kit and my iPod.

Now I'm itching to get a new stereo... :-)
