Default need sub suggestions....my current sub channel is

something like 200-250W@4 ohm...and is 1 ohm stable...so it cna put out a few more watts. I currently have 2 12" Kenwood subs that sound so muddy. They are so not tight it sucks. I've hooked up my buddy's 3x10 jl box (W0) speakers and it sounded way better than what I have. So I think 10's sound tighter. I'd prefer to conserve space, I listen to all types of music, but I'd like to have a little thump when I want it. What would you suggest? Was looking at the JL combos...there is a 2x10W3 that looks good. But then I was wondering if I'd be better off making my own. So dual coil 2 ohm 10W3 instead. Input appreciated.

Default 1ohm stable? Go with a nice IDQ D2 V.2...

and run the coils in parallel for a 1 ohm load. If it's a high end amp that should give you 800+Watts. Get either a 12 or 15 and stick it in a nice sealed enclosure...very small specs. The IDQ is a SQ sub for sure, but don't be fooled...it'll have plenty of kick. If you like it a little boomier then just build the box on the large end of the spec range.

Default I'm not sure i feel comfortable at 1 ohm

I have had the amp fixed under warranty a couple of times, so 2 ohm is what I feel comforable with. I'll look up the IDQ stuff...thanks.

Try a single Boston Pro 10. Very tight, small enclosure.

Default Yep...

There will be a range of specs for the sub...the lower end is tighter the upper end is boomier. But keep in mind it's all relative. "boomy" from an IDQ in a largish sealed box is not the same as "boomy" from a JL in a band-pass ported box. You really need to decide what your preferences are for bass and buy the appropriate sub with the right box. I prefer tight accurate bass...but with enough power you don't have to sacrifice output for those qualities.

Default I think I found out why my current sub sounds bad

I think the box is too small. I was reading some specs on the speaker and it looks like it wants a bigger box for sealed enclosure. I didn't build it, a friend did, so I assumed too much.
