Default New audio system with custom door panels ->

The reason I chose the specific products and solutions for my ICE was the fact that I got into a car (which also was a TT coupe) with the same ones and loved the sound! I believe that this is the important test you need to run before picking your ICE stuff, like you always say guys. The whole system is a bit abnormal and radical, as it's using 8ohm mid-high woofers that are destined for living-rooms. So I used 4 of those (2 on each door) running bridged at 4ohm. They are mid-high (150Hz - 8kHz) and combined with the 4" tweeters the mid-high and high frequencies are plainly unbelievable!!! These certain frequencies are the ones most important to me and the ones I consider to be responsible for sound quality (for a major part).

In detail, I opted for 4 x 6MI90 Beyma woofers (6.5", 4X125W RMS) and 2 x PH35 Beyma tweeters (4", 2x25W RMS).

I admit that the bass is not as good and "full" as it was with my previous Focals (165 KP) but the rest is just perfect. I think that an extra amp driving another set of low-range woofers in the rear panels would make the system complete, but for the time being no more money is gonna be spent on that. The rest of the system includes an SPL Dynamics 5ch. amp, an MTX 12" Thunder 4500 sub and a Nakamichi CD-400 HU.

Default Yep, at first I had my doubts about how it would look, but it looks even better than stock ;)

It really complements the TT interior as it's using the same materials (black leather & aluminum). The door now is fully dressed in leather while the tweeter matches perfectly the rest of the interior stuff (door handle, vents etc). Also, it's really shallow for a custom door panel. The only problem is that now I can't open the glove box. Well you can't have it all

BTW, Beyma has a very good reputation in Europe and has some very good stuff at a decent price. This whole project only cost me 700 euros (panels & products & installation). The sound quality is mind-blowing and far superior to the Focals'...

I'll have some more pics soon.

Default Helix makes a door pocket/panel for the a4

that has two mids and two tweeters built into each sides
cost around $1100 for the setup (panels, 4 mids, 4 tweets, crossovers, etc)

Default Not much...

Just this pic of the door devoid of the door-card (at least you can see the Dynamat in there).

The panels were made seperately (after testing of course) and then dressed with leather. I don't know exactly what the process was as I wasn't present at the installation.

Beyma's are fairly cheap for what they offer. Beyma is new to the car-auido market but is a very well known company at professional sound. They have a very wide range of any kind of speakers. The ones on my car are of their professional line and the whole thing (panels + leather + speakers + cables + installation) cost me like 700 euros (around 930$), which is a very good price IMO. I know Beyma isn't very well known in the USA (the company is spanish actually), but bear in mind that they hold the world SPL record (or something like that). Check out their site and you'll see what I mean ->

http://www.beyma.com/</a

Default I could be wrong as well...

I had read on their forum that they do hold that record, or that they had the highest measurement but the car wasn't allowed to participate in the competition or something like that, I don't really know. But they do have achieved some great things for such a little company. A look at their site is at least interesting.

And I can't believe I could have the results I have with these Beyma products, unless I had to spent like triple of that. I was between this setup or the Focal 165 K3P (the 3-way components with 200W RMS power). I doubt wether the Focals would be able to produce the mid-high and high frequencies so loud and in such clarity (except for the lower frequencies of course).
