Default New system choices

I know these kinds of posts get old after awhile, but I respect the opinions here.

I've come down to a choice between two systems from two different installers. I like both guys and trust either with my car. Price is within a couple hundred bucks, and I think they are pretty comparable systems.

I'm keeping the Audi Symphony head unit and replacing all of the Bose stuff. I'm interested in sound quality, but like to listen to my music moderately loud. I'm not interested in blasting the cars around me, but sound quality at higher litening levels is important.

First system is a complete JL Audio setup.
2 pairs of XR630Csi for the 4 doors
1 10W6v2 Sub built into the sidewall in the trunk
1 300/4 amp to power the speakers
1 500/1 amp to power the sub

The second system is an MB Quart / Kicker combo.
2 pairs of MB Quart PCE216 for the 4 doors
1 Kicker S10L5 Sub in the sidewall of the trunk
1 Kicker KX600.4 for the speakers
1 Kicker KX600.1 for the sub

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Default w6v2 owns the solo-b's in the sq department.

I love Kicker equipment, but JL is overall better, imo (subs and amps anyways). As for speakers, I've never been super impressed with JL. I like the first setup more.

I'd take the JL setup, but IMHO you're burning money....

Default i don't know what your budget is, but if you say you're into SQ, you need to ditch the

HU and get something better. Yes, i know it is nice to have integration into the dash, but when it's gone, you really don't even miss it.

As for the speakers, i say forget the rears and dump more money into your front stage (remember- iasca SQ competitors don't use rear-fill b/c it muddles the soundstage), then use that 4-ch amp to run the front componets with one driver per channel. Trust me, you'll like the increased bass response from the larger driver resulting from the extra power.

that's just what i would, and DO, do, although i have a 3-way up front. think about it.

Default i think you will do ok with the stock HU, just get a line driver to boost the line out voltage

this is for de-noggin

if you are to run one driver per channel how would you cross over the drivers?

Default Have ya looked into the

Diamond Audio line for the speakers? Not really a big fan of the M3 line unless for for the rear fill but the M6 and Hex stuff are a bit nicer. Ive had both the 300/4 and the 500/1 they are damn quality equipment, for SQ and for about the same price maybe a lil more take a look at the Zapco Reference line with the symbilinks hard to beat 16-18 volts RMS balanced going to the amps.
