Default A newbie headunit question

Hi guys, i just got my first car, an emerald green 96 A4 2.8 and i love it. Today i went looking at Kenwood headunits and the guy at the shop said if I get one I may need to get all new speakers because my Bose ones wont be compatible. Is this true???

Not entirely... you've got to consider the impedance... I believe the Bose speakers are 1-Ohm...

Default I doubt that. I believe the are more like 4 ohms

If it is 1 ohm them that stock headunit got one hell of an amp built into it

Default i think hes right... the bose speakers are only compatible with the bose HU

they've got some crazy impedence rating according to others on this forum (i think someone on this forum said they had .8 or something??)

if you replace the stock bose HU you're definately going to have to replace all the other speakers...

Default here is what I found in the archives...

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/2738.phtml">Don't try to use Bose amps with other speakers.</a>

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/13615.phtml"> I have read the Bose speakers are very low impedance... </a>

these aren't the best sources, but hey... what do you expect for free? =) maybe someone that has replaced these speakers could tell us for certain...
