I've got an '06 A3. I've heard / read that it is and isn't compatible with NAV+ w/ premium. Some say the CD changer will need to be removed because the adapter uses the changers BUS connector and then due to the way the changer communicates w/ the stero, the I-pod controlls are disabled and there is no on-screen display. Anybody here have the real story??

Since nobody has seen the Audi adapter yet, it's all speculation that it is pretty similar to the Dension IceLink. If it is then you won't be able to connect a CD changer and the Audi iPod adapter at the same time. The CD changer and the Icelink (and Phatbox if you care) get connected to the CD changer port of the head unit and only one device can be connected there at a time. If you want to connect two or more you need some kind of switch which doesn't exist as OEM part.
In any case, no Audi head unit supports displaying text from a devices connected to the CD changer port. Regardless which adapter you get. But if you get the IceLink or Audi adapter and disconnect your CD changer (or have that magic switch) then you can control you iPod through the head unit.

I can do without the CD changer if I can easily install the I-pod in it's place via this adapter. It would be nice to have the headunit display the song info though. My Pioneer HU in my GTI was able to do this with their adapter. I was able to control the I-pod via the HU controls as well. Very nice set up. Once you get used to seeing song info on the HU, it's hard to go without. Research shows that regardless of the adapter, I'm still relegated to this playlist / CD# corelation. Not sure how to work around that if I only want to listen to the tracks sorted by artist, album, genre etc.
