OEM ipod kit install 2.0
Well friends, those that know my plight, will know that we last left off with every wire tested and retested and the best guess was a faulty control module...
Fast forward a week, my dealership got me a new module and module-to-ipod cable. Swapped them in and no go. Still not recognized by the head unit.
In the meantime, I've also tried and succeeded in hooking up a Metra Axxess ipod kit. This needed a breakout cable from enfig (thanks Christian!) but works fine. The features are really sucky on this unit, so I'm still interested in making the Audi one work.
So - a plea to the community... will one of you RNS-E (Nav +) users that popped in the factory ipod kit donate/trade/sell me their non-RNSE cable? (the OEM kit comes with a cable for standard radio and one for nav - you use either or).
I have a feeling I screwed the pooch on the interface cable itself.
THanks all! Appreciate it in advance!

yup. Sounds like the interface cable that you cut is the culprit
Also, most of those who isntall the kit with with the RNS-E (HU not factory installed) will probably use the wiring with 9 pins (due to the aftermarket plug/play harnesses). Those with the fatory installed RNS-E will probably be more likely to have that cable available for you.
Basically, try and find someone with a factory installed RNS-E (who purchaed the audi ipod cable) and ask to buy there "other" interface cable. Make sense?

Ted, when will you have the instructions ready?
I have the Audi iPod adapter (sorry wig, I need the same cable for my Symphony II HU). I want to route it through the satellite receiver and be able to still use XM.
I have the adapter kit and soon the radio removal tools, but I don't know what else to get. I was thinking of keeping the iPod next to the emergency brake so I can still see the song information displayed instead of hiding it in the glovebox.
Thanks!

Cyber... thanks and...
DO NOT start this process without the pin removal tool. I am pretty sure that's where I F'd up. Now I need a new harness and probably the 20 pin plug as well

GUSH! You guys are great. I will definitely take you up on it...
once I find a new cable. I price shopped that damned 1556 tool yup $75 best deal in US. I had a friend from Austria check locally, they are about $45 Euro over there... but tack on shipping and we're back to where we started.
I'll be in touch once I find that damned cable set!
Cheers!
