Default OEM Replacement Speakers

I have a 2001, non-bose A4.

While I know just replacing the front and rear speakers with higher grade component speakers may not do them justice......I just don't feel like going the whole amp route.

Has anyone done this....swapped out the speakers but still kept the stock head unit? If so, are there any suggestions on what speakers to use?

Default I'd like a copy of your speaker template if you'd be so kind. Send to:

D. Wells P.O. Box 360952 L.A., Ca 90036

Thanks!

Any pics of your install of the larger speakers in the door? I'm trying to do the same in my C4 A6 but they seem too tight to go in there!

Default I doubt B5 doors are similar to your C4

The template is very specific for the B5. Took quite a while fooling around to get the speakers to fit. I doubt the template would be much use to you :-(

Default You don't with MB's

I'm getting MB Quart RCE 213 and I was told by well everybody I wouldn't have to do any fabricating to get them to fit. I heard it's a paint to find a place to put the crossover though. The ones I'm getting aren't the top of the crop but there only $129.99 @ acaraudio.com on sale from $399. My friend has them and they sound great and he has 350 watts rms running x2 to two 12 inch JL Audio subs. He's running 85 watts rms to them. He has a Clarion Pro deck that was the best at the time and i've never heard anything with that kind of range. It was so clear.

Default Sorry to get back to you late...that's ok, I might just stay with 4" and...

put 5.25" in the stock rear doors as fill. The fit for the bigger size in my doors looks really sketchy, very tight and I don't want to tear up anything trying for more sound.
Anything over stock will be an improvement I think!
