looking at going to a 6.5 component set up.
seeing lots of people doing the
dynaudio 240GT series
Focal 165's
diamond audio 6.5's
what else should you be considering / looking at in the 400-600 price point for a set of clean, clear not bright or tinny separates?
thanks.
David.

a/d/s 335 px's which were org. 699 and unbelievably awesome, just the 5.25 vs. 6.5 response in an o4 s4 avant leaves a little room for improvement...

i am currently using a two pairs of dynaudio 240GTs for front and rear stages in my 1.8T Avant. they are amazing speakers. if i could run any other components in my system i would go with some morel hybrid ovation 6s (morel's crossovers are sick!).
as for subwoofers, i would highly recommend alumapro. they also make a decent component set and possibly the best capacitors on the market.

I'v enever heard the 335px but I'm familiar with the older i/s series of speakers and the open airy sound they had. The bostons are not harsh and I found them to be very smooth with a little more midbass kick than the a/d/s. Another one to consider even though they are supposedly not in the same class is the JL XR series components. I thought they sounded pretty good but maybe a little more restricted in the midrange. Nothing that a little EQ couldn't correct though.

you should hear them, they sound great. They are the mid-line ones, but are still awesome. You're going to be at Qfest right? you could hear them then...or sooner if you'd like
