2000 Non-Bose... I want good tight base, not blaring. The amp I am thinking of will put out 300x1(2ohms). I was going to get a QLogic Sealed Type 1 box and put 2 10inch subs in (150 each)
My question is it that overkill? Would one 10 or 12 at 300 be plenty? I'd like to hear from people who have just one sub and those that have 2.
Fronts to be upgraded to Infinity Kappa components (5 1/4) in the near future.
Thanks!!

I'm just getting into my new car audio phase, and I'm not quite clear on 2 ohms vs. 4 ohms. Could you go a bit more into Detail? I assume my amp would put out 300 in 2 ohm and 150 x2 in 4 ohm?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would like to run this as 75x4 and 300x1 (2 ohms)
How do I know what the ohm rating for the front speakers is? See, I'm unclear how an amp that says (50x4 and 200x1 RMS) becomes 75x4 and 300x1.
Or 150x2 and 200x1 for that matter...
Thanks for the in depth description, it's helping out alot!<ul><li><a href="http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-udNquWWccTi/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=120&I=108255A&o=M&a=0">http ://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-udNquWWccTi/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=120&I=108255A&o=M&a=0</a</li></ul>

I used to have two 10's in a previous car, and I now have just one 10 in my A4... and even though it is a piece of crap old JBL with only 60 watts running to it, it still sounds really nice. I listen to a lot of bass heavy stuff too.. and it sounds great inside the car, and you don't have to hear me all the way down the block!

Most car audio speakers are rated at 4ohms.(You can find other ratings, but this is the de facto standard. Whereas home speakers are 8ohm.) You can adjust the impededence/resistance of the total speaker load by channel by the method in which you wire the system. To achieve a 2ohm rating you would need to wire TWO sets of speakers operating in the same frequency range in parallel to each channel. This generally entails either running the front and rears off of just 2 channels, or using multiple drivers for each "corner" of your system. Component speakers do NOT count a multiple drivers since the tweeter and woofer operate at different frequencies, so the amp only "sees" the rated ohms of each speaker at their operating frequency. The only caveat here is that at the cross-over point(the frequency range where the woofer and tweeter are BOTH emitting the same frequencies) the ohm rating can drop or raise depending on the crossover design.
I'll have to come back and address this further, unless someone else wants to continue. I need to go do my "job". Like that's important, or something! ;-)

Someone sat down with me and drilled me on 2ohms vs. 4 ohms over the weekend. Ok, so I understand that now. I guess my last question is one I just posted above. Should I run my front components on all 4 channels of my amp utilizing the amp's built in crossover, or should I just use the crossover supplied by the manufacturer. Is there a benefit either way?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
