Default Tell them they need to add an 8" sub to their shallow sub lineup.

I'm desperately looking for something other than an Earthquake sub to put in my car.

Default adding something to the 3?

I've got a dealer that is using the custom Hertz 8" - 4" - 1" seperate set for his new 335i. It's in the process of being installed, but everything should fit into factory locations with VERY LITTLE adjustment. I'll let you know how it sounds.

Default The Hertz kit is the HSK 200.3

it's an 8" midbass driver <a href="http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_hv200.pdf">HV200</a>
a 3" cone midrange <a href="http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_hl70.pdf">HL 70</a>
and a 1" neodymium tweeter <a href="http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_ht25.pdf">HT 25</a>
with a custom tuned crossover <a href="http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_3W10.pdf">3W10.3</a>

The car can fit a 4" midrange, and you can use the <a href="http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_hv100.pdf">HV 100</a> However, we have found that it's easier to fit the 3".

Also, you're the kinda guy who would probably want to run everything active. Take a peek at the speakers' specs and you'll see how dynamic their frequency range is.

Default Has this been installed yet?

I don't see those speakers as being drop in. The 8" is too deep for the stock enclosure. Available depth is less than 2-1/2". Also, the LP x-over frequency for the 8" is 500Hz which is kinda high for something that will be installed under the front seat.

Ideally, I'd like the 4" to extend down to at least 150Hz and have the 8" take over from there so it acts more like a sub than a dedicated midbass.

Very nice specs on the 8" mid-bass. 94db w/1watt...very efficient as well.
