Default Out with the old.. In with the new... I need an 8" sub.. What do you guys recommend?

Here is a shot of my old setup.. Im going to go with something very similar in design but Im gonna go with an 8" sub this time.. This setup was with a 10" Alumium Eclipse sub pushing 500watts continuous.. It was more then I needed which is why Im gonna drop down to an 8"..

The amp I am going to use is good for 450watts continuous power mono into a 4ohm load..

Since my sub is going to be the center of attention I have to be a little shallow and get something that looks good (the main reason I went with the eclipse sub)... So what do you all recommend?

Default It doesn't seem like there are many choices for 8inch sub..

Rockford has an single voice coil 8" sub which is rated for 300watts peak, and 200watts continuous at 4ohm..
They also sell a dvc 8" with the same ratings as the SVC...

My amp is a 2 channel amp, and at 2ohms it will produce 225watts per channel... With a DVC setup properly I can get it to run at 2ohms which would be perfect for the 225watts.. RIght?

Should I go with the RF or should I just try and get a shallow 10" instead?

Default i dont think they make the clipse aluminum series in 8"

i might have an elemental designs e8a.44 for sale soon. its discontinued and hard to find but one of the better 8" subs out there. only thing is that its a dual voice coils at 4 ohms.

you MIGHT be able to run each channel seperately at 2 ohms into each voice coil but i'm not sure if this is possible...i'll have to do some research.

Default Exactly.. A single 4ohm DVC sub would actually be the right setup for this..

Wiring all the negs together, it would run at 2ohm load and the amp is rated for 225watts per channel @ a 2ohm load..

Default i did some research and you can wire one channel to each voice coil...

the sub takes 450w rms. you'd have to figure out how much power your amp puts out at 4 ohms 2 channels to see if it works.

Look into a RE RE8, or a 8" JL W6 if you have the money
