Default here's a question...

is it dangerous to just bolt on a 12" cable to the existing power cable? I mean, take a cable that's got ring connectors on each end, get a screw and nut and screw the existing power cable to the extension...then heat shrink.

Instant gratification is asking that question, since I couldn't find one of those connectors you used, and the local Shuck's has exactly one of those cables.

Default As long as its a solid connection and you can insulate it, I don't see a problem.

So what you're going to do is have two ring terminals bolted together to make a connection and then heat shrink it for insulation? I think it'll work even though it won't be as nice. Another option would be to use a 4 AWG butt connector but I didn't go that route because crimping a 4 AWG butt connector is a major PITA especially in a confined space like the engine bay. But if you have access to a large gauge crimper (not the hammer type ones), it could be done. You could even solder and heat shrink it if you wanted to and do away with a mechanical connection all together.

I actually bought all my accessories through ebay because I couldn't get anything locally.

Default well, works like a charm.

a bit more ghetto than i'd like, but it works, it's safe, I had other stuff to do

I might get one of those set screw connectors yet, or solder...not sure.

So far, the battery is great! Besides the two amps, I have that PC in the car and I think I had it on for an hour on just battery without the volt meter moving...that's definitely not been the case with the one I had before (OEM replacement).

Thanks much for the help!
