Default Phat Box or Icelink?

I was originally thinking of picking up a Phat Box, now that Clair is selling them for $165.

My Avant has a built-in CDC connector in the left rear cubby hole and my thought was that I could shove the Phat Box in the cubby hole with ease. But after reading the installation instructions, it looks like I'm supposed to just screw it to the wall of the 'trunk' of the Avant, something I don't want to do. Nor do I want to cut holes in my cubby hole to make it fit.

Am I wrong about how to install the Phat Box?

So now I'm looking at the Icelink, which is supposed to be better to control from the HU, anyway. But I'd rather not have it on a clip mounted in the front.

As an alternative to the Phat Box, is there a way to connect the Icelink connector to the CDC changer in the rear cubby hole?

By the way, my audio system is completely stock at this point (Symphony radio with CDC controls, but no actual CDC), which I'm sure explains my noob questions.

Oh, and I already own an iPod.

Thanks,

DD

Default Icelink!

I have removed my PhatNoise and inastalled a pioneer H/U with an iPod interface. My iPod stays in my car most of the time and is easier to manage tracks than the Phatbox. With the PhatBox it is more cumbersome to connect to multiple computers, ei work, home or laptop. Lets not mention that the iPod is compatible with a wider selection of head units.

Default Where did you guys mount it?

I'm thinking of actually mounting the iPod in the trunk cubby hole where the CDC is supposed to go, as opposed to sitting up front on a clip.

Do you guys see any issue doing it that way?

Thx,

DD

First off, how big is your Ipod? How many sonegs do you have loaded on there? I had the IceLink and wound up putting it in manually manipulation mode all the time. I found it tidious to access my music using the track+ method. So I asked myself why am I spending 200 bucks for something that is more hassle then its worth. SO I ripped the IceLink out and installed the new Blitzsafe M LInk interface. I use it in my VW, but they make one specific for Audi. The interface charges the Ipod and gives you a direct audio input into your headunit. The interface even charges the Ipod for an additional 20 minutes once the vehicle is shut down. Now I can access music on my Ipod as fast as the click wheel will allow. I really like the Mlink interface and recommend it to everyone with an Ipod. The unit retails for $89.00, less then half the IceLink!!!!! I am thinking of running a special for members of AudiWorld. I believe I will be setting it up this week.

Default Blitz M Link? Where?

Do you have an online source for this? I went to the Blitzsafe website and couldn't find anything that looked iPod related.

BTW, my iPod is a 10 GB model, and it's only about 40% full.

I don't know about Icelink, but my Pioneer interface does.
