Hi, so I have an aftermarket system in my car. Alpine headunit, MB quarts speakers, 2 JL amps, and a JL sub.

when i crank the volume up, all the speakers suddenly cut out, and the low ohms light turns on on the 300/4 amp powering the speakers.

recently, i cranked up the volume to see what was going on - and the speakers would cut out, the low ohm light would come on ... BUT ALSO the 2nd amp for the sub would also lose power.

should i be looking into the headunit?

or is it a bad amp(s)?

or is it a fray in a wire? i checked all the wires the length of the car and couldnt find anything

any ideas? tips?

Are the MB quarts 2 ohm? If so is the JL amp OK to drive a 2 ohm load?

Are you using the MB Quart seperates with a passive X-over, or coaxials?

But the power supplies are strictly regulated so they don't increase power output at lower impedences.

so i just made note of what connections were where when i removed/replaced it. ill take a closer look/pics and post it up
