Default Problem : Head unit powers but nothing to speakers.

Old Setup: 99 Concert Headunit, usual bose a4 setup, 15" audiobahn 400 watt amp and sub.

I switched the sub and amp out with a powerful 500wattx2 urban audio amp with a 10" kicker. it hit twice as hard.

The problem: 2 days later..driving down the road..i hear a pop, the stereo turns off and smoke pours out of the cassette slot in the HU. after the incident, the HU powers, but with a blank display. Bought a new concert HU, the unit powers and works like usual, but still no output to speakers..

what are all the possibilities of what is wrong?

thanks

Default How are you feeding the sub amp? From the pre-outs going to the Bose amp or

using a line level converter from the speaker outputs?
Are all the speakers dead or just the sub?

Feeding the sub from the front speakers + and - behind the HU.

Default Ahhh, well you've either blown the internal amp or more likely burnt out the line out converter that

sits between the speaker outs and the sub amp (unless you are using speaker input on the sub amp).
You didn't say whether all speakers are dead or just the sub?
You may have simply blown a fuse on the Bose amp (in the boot) or posibly something worse. Try hooking up a regular speaker to the front speaker connections at the HU to check if that's working.

Default thanks, i'll give it a try

All the speakers are dead, so could it still be the line out converter? i'll check the fuse on the bose amp too.

Default If all the speakers are dead then it's unlikely to be the LOC

as the Bose amp doesn't use one, it takes the pre-outs straight from the back of the HU.
