Problem with radio reception

I just got a new Panasonic head unit installed in my car and have been getting terrible radio reception. My installer says that it is because of 2 things a)the mp3 player I had installed is drawing power from the antenna and b) the factory unit ran off two antennas and the aftermarket is running off one. I unplugged the mp3 player and got marginally better reception but it was still a very weak signal. What have all of you been doing to get a strong signal to your new head units. Thanks in advance.

1. Does the factory antenna booster still have power to it?
2. Does the Panasonic have an external DC-DC converter (small box coming out the back of the unit)
3. Is the rest of your system stock?

I will answer these as well as I can but I'm not sure since I didnt install the system.
1. Does the factory antenna booster still have power to it?
I'm not sure but I think it has power
2. Does the Panasonic have an external DC-DC converter (small box coming out the back of the unit)
I dont know but the model is CQ-DF800U if that helps
3. Is the rest of your system stock?
All that was installed was the head unit, new speakers in the front doors and rear deck and an mp3 player
Thanks

I would have the installer recheck everything. Make sure the factory antenna amp still has power to it, and your antenna adapter has power to it. If it does have a DC-DC converter, makes sure it is mounted as far away from the antenna wire as possible.
