Bought my car used and didn't come with owners manual. It came with the Bose system.
1. Are the speakers in the front doors 5 and 1/4 ?
2. And the rear doors 5 and 1/4 also?
3. Also, what brand aftermarket tweeters fit the best in the stock area as well?
4. If I change out the head unit, will the feature on my dash between my tach and speedo still tell me what cd and track number i'm listening to on a new unit?
Thanks in advance...
David

a pair of Boston Pro separates 5.25 for a really good deal that's why. And was hoping that the front was 5.25. If not that's ok.

And I've heard that ADS are pretty pricey. I'm assuming that you are gonna have a separate amp for them? What type/how many subs are you gonna go with?
I'm thinking about going with either 1 Solobaric 12" or 1 Polk db 12".
Do you think that would be sufficient?
Thanks

1) Factory front speaks are 4". However, I know someone who just had 6.5" Diamonds installed in his front door, so I doubt stuffing 5.25" Boston's in there would be a problem... Krimlan is right, though, you will probably need an adaptor. But they will go in there!
2) Unless you have an Avant, your rears are in the rear deck, and they are 6.5", though I cannot remember if they are components or coax. Probably coax. If you have an Avant, I have no idea what is in the doors on those, but I would bet that they aren't 6.5".
3) Almost any tweet *should* fit in the factory location. I'm almost positive that the Boston's will go. I have not heard of anyone having trouble getting a tweet into the factory location.
4) With the factory head unit gone, the CD track display on the gauges (i.e. trip computer) will just go black. I don't know of anyone who has bothered to get around this issue. Just a fact of life.
Regarding subwoofers, what kind of music do you listen to? Remember that a twelve has slower transitions due to the larger cone size, making it less "accurate" for music with quick kick drums like rock and punk. A 12" is more ideal for rap and R&B and the like. I personally went with two 10" Solobarics because I'm a huge punk fan, so the choice was a no-brainer for me. Just so you know, the 10s sound pretty good with hiphop bass as well. Hope some of this helps... Good luck.

Helps alot! I appreciate you being very elaborative! I was worried about losing the gauge or readout on my dash(ie trip computer).
I listen to all types of music(sorry no country) but am probably more partial to R&B. I considered going with one 12" solobaric but wondered if it would be enough...Though I do not want rediculous bass, just classy enought to compliment the rest of the system and not dround out the highs. Nor do I want to be heard 500 feet away.
In you own opinion, would one 12" Solobaric or Polk db be sufficient?
Thanks in advance,
David
