I have no Am reception. Is there an amplifier for the antenna? I need any and all info available on the antenna system. Where do the wires run so I can check connections.
I just got my A4 back from the Dealer. The radio was replaced but still essentially no AM reception.
The radio was replace about 1.5 years ago for the drifting station problem. No problems since.
Tinted with semi metalic 1 year ago and only a slight decrease in AM reception. The audi help line told my dealer's service manager that it was due to the tinting. Lame! They did not even know if it was metalic or not. Thank goodness that the service manager is smarter than to believe that.
One month ago I lost all AM reception. It would came back once or twice over the past month while waiting for my service appointment.
I was told that it may be the amplifier to the antenna. Where is the amplifier to the antenna? I know that the antenna is the top two lines on the back window.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Eric...
It "could" be you've blown the antenna amp, or the wire to it. There are 4 antenna amps in your car, but only one does FM. The one you want is behind the drivers side "D" pillar. You will find two wires on this one, the connection to pin 2 is the AM wire. If it worked after the tinting, it's possible the wire could have been broken or knocked off.
Good luck!
