you're not going to fix the problem with Dynamat, mate. The deck is jumping from the actual air pressure, not from transmitted vibrations. I'd suggest finding a way to hold it down more securely. One thing I've seen that worked pretty well was to stuff fiberfill between the rear deck and the metal frame. This will act as a cushon, making the deck vibrate less. If you combine this with some way to attach the deck more efficiently, you're set. One thing I'm going to try is to make a .25" thick board that fits the contours of the deck perfectly and glue it to the bottom. That way, I can run bolts through the wood and REALLY secure it down.

Finally, you should make use of any available air ports in the deck. By opening up any ports a little further, the trunk can 'breathe' a little easier. This will yield less vibrations by allowing the air to pass through without lifting up the whole deck.

Have you tried opening up the ski passthrough?

Default good ideas... one more suggestion

if you don't drive with people in the back seat often then it might be a good idea to remove the stock rear speakers completely. this will reduce the backpressure from the (almost) sealed trunk. a couple of people here have done this with successful results. i have a stealthbox, which forced me to remove the speakers and i do not really miss them at all. i will add speakers in the rear doors eventually to compensate for the missing high-end...

Default I used polyfill material in sheet form....

it's the same stuff used to make blankets. I just cut out the shape of the rear deck and stuffed it between the deck and the metal shelf beneath. Because the space is now filled tightly, the deck has nowhere to move, so it doesn't vibrate any more.

Default I used some weather-stripping from Home Depot ...

I was getting rattles from the rear deck initially. It was partly because I broke off one of the plastic clips near the rear brake light, and partly because there was too much free space between the metal frame and the rear deck upholstery (me thinks).

I replaced the broken clip which now holds the upholstery more securely to the frame, and I also added some weatherstripping: (a) between metal frame and upholstery, and (b) between metal frame and the MDF board to which my sub is screwed. I also have some dynamat here and there.

The only rattle I am still getting is from the rear part of the trunk - from the trunk lock assembly, I think. It can only be heard when standing outside the car though.

I will also try to uncover my ski-sack hole, like thermo suggested, but for a different reason - to get more bass into the cabin without having the sub work so hard. Never thought of doing that before.

The pic below was taken before I added the weatherstripping. More pics in my picture poster.
