Default rear speakers replaced but...

ive got that wonderful alternator whine in the speakers...installed 6.5 infinities and a no name but brand new 50x2 amp...auto shop teacher suggests i install a small capacitor on the ground cable...is that the only solution or is there something i'm missing?

Default How have you linked up the amp?

If you have installed a line out converter on the speaker outs of the rear amp then this will cause a whole bunch of noise & interference.

Default i was using a line out converter, and ive now switched to the high level imput provided with the amp

the ground i used is one of the tie downs in the trunk, it has worked very well on previous subwoofer installs...my other idea is the fact that this amp is only 50x2 and im using 4 gauge wire...is that just too big for it?

Default Same difference, use the pre-outs going into the Audi amp

straight into the RCA's on the new amp.
Basically you have a $3 piece of sh*t sitting in between the HU and your decent amp. It also uses Mickey Mouse wiring and the lo level pre-outs aren't screened properly.
Line out converters or high level inputs are prone to hideous amounts of noise and interference as you are effectively running 2 amps in series. You can just about getaway with using one for just a sub, but not for full range speakers.
