Recommendations for upgrading '98 A4 non-Bose spkrs..

Opinions and commentary welcome, on a budget, so good sound w/o significant expenditure is a good thing.

I just upgraded my '98 non-Bose speakers to Infinity Kappas.

Looks totally stock. Kept all the OEM grills & was relatively cheap. Look on eBay. There are lots of people selling new speakers. That's where I got mine. I also added a sm. 4 channel Sony amp to help power the system. Sounds much better than the crappy stock speakers.

Sizing? Did you replace the tweeter too?

get the 4"->5.25" MB Quart adapters for the front

they make 6.5 adapters for the rear too... but I'd add a sub before I replaced those.

I just upgraded my system with 4" a/d/s/ 234is up front and 6.5" a/d/s/ 236im in the back. I have never been so pleased with speakers in my car. I guess if you have the money go with the 3 series but these kick. Sound is great, bass is amazing for just midrange speakers!
