RCA adapter is better as it will feed a pure pre-out signal to the Bose amp, although some people have experienced an annoying pop when they turn the HU on, but I've used this adapter on my 01 TDi A4 Avant and it worked perfectly, so it maybe a problem on just older models.

To put a new head unit in a bose quipped A4, can one bypass the bose amp and replace the speakers?..
