Default Is Rockford BD1000.1 Amp enough to push the RF Power HX2 RFR3112 sub?

the BD1000.1 amp has 1000RMS X 1 at 2 ohms and 500RMS X 1 at 4 ohms
and the sub has dual 2 ohm coils and handles 1000RMS

i dont' understand about those ohm thing
what is it for
and if the sub is dual 2 ohms
then i have to set the sub to 2 ohms or 4 ohms?
