Default because JL subs are no SQ monsters either, if he ran boston/eclipse/etc then JL is 2nd choice

if I had some monster SQ speakers i'd run zapco/eclipse/PPI/xtant amps.

might as well go full Mac setup if you're really that worried about SQ

Default very true

I love the old PPI art amplifiers for what they were. Not so much anymore as they are a DEI product. I wish Eclipse still had their titanium woofers

Yeah, but you like your Bose system, right?

Default ouch

'"this is good enough for me' means you settle for sub-par audio quality"

Default I don't dislike it would be a better expression. Plus.......

I had a hard enough time convincing my wife that I should even upgrade the sub in my new $73,000 car. You can only take things so far. I also own a highly modified Nissan 350 roadster with a full custom system built from scratch.

Default Well, heck, how can I argue with reasoning like that?

They are reliable and seem to work well. Any responses to the other points about the "slash" amps?

Default Low Freq Loop

My only observation is that you have your amp attached to the sub box. Arent you afraid of introducing distortion from the low frequency that will be oscillating the amp?

Think about it. Everytime it requires more power to extrude the speaker to produce lower or more bass you vibrate the whole amp which will in turn reintroduce more low freq feedback, thereby creating a viscious loop of unwanted side band atrifacts.

When installing high powered systems in night clubs we would isolate the amps by flying them and the subs were mounted on granite to reduce it being transmitted through the floor.

I typically mount my car amps away from the sub on a dense oak plate to do the same thing.
