Default running new speaker wire through the doors or splice into the factory wires?

I'm trying to finish up my system and a friend said THE way to go is to splice the speaker wire at the door so not to pull more wires through. However, I don't really want to screw with the factory system as one day I may get rid of the car and would like to just put the factory system back in (maybe)..... but also, the speaker wire that I've got is a LOT better than what Audi is using and seems pointless to splice it there at the end and create a weak link in the set up.

Any ideas?

Default use a harness at the headunit where the stock wire runs to

and run new wire back to the amp. 100% reversable.

Default I'm running all new stuff, and that doesn't help me when it gets to the speakers because i'd need an

adapter there anyway....... i'm fine with running the wires.

Default splice the wire at the speaker

you can resplice the stock speaker back in...it'll be much easier this way...going through the doors is a PITA

Default agreed...running wires through the door jamb is too much of a PITA to justify the SQ benefits

in my opinion at least

and you can always replace stock speakers - just splice the wires back together if you go back to stock

Default Well then.... i'll need to know a lot more about the wiring then......

I don't think i'm going to get the cross overs in the door, but how the hell would you come off the cross over and then splice the wiring in the door........?

Default what kind of speakers are you using?

I fit my crossovers in the doors no problem. It may help to remove the cover (the inside of the doors is already fairly well sealed and so long as the electrical components don't touch the door cards, you shouldn't have an issue with them

if you don't want the crossovers in the door, however, you will need to run wires through the door jamb
