The stuff they sell isn't out of the ordinary, it's just designed special to integrate factory bose systems and such.
What exactly do you want to keep in the bose system? This may not be the best route.

The Headunit and the cd changer on the TTR...the rest of it gots ta go! I would just get rid of the whole thing but my service tech and the TT board confirmed that if you get rid of the HU the vag tool won't be able to read useful codes that are needed to do a proper diagnostic check on the car. I guess that there is other things inside the Bose headunit that interface with the rest of the car...and I have a hard time getting rid of the 6cd changer. I really don't want to completly throw $1200 out the window.

Check out John P.'s website (TT owner). He did an upgrade off his stock concert system using the Blaupunkt adaptor most of us use with our Symphony systems. This allows you to maintain your factory changer and run any amp you'd wish.
