Default I've got the same amp, mounted on a shelf suspended from the rear deck

I'll snap a photo tonight and post it. It was a costly install, but it looks amazing - looks like it was a factory installed option!

Default Rear speakers are not just for the rear passengers. They are critical in creating the "image" of

of the sound system, meaning that certain sounds appear to come from different directions.

Default Don't necessarily agree. I've mounted both my amps upside down under the rear deck in my last Audi,

which was an A4, and it was fine for 3 years. Now they are installed the same way in the S4, no problem. The subs in the trunk create enough airflow to not worry about the amps overheating.

My install shop is top notch, and has done this for me in four cars now, never had a problem.

Default With this type of setup, it appears that you have even less airflow around the heat sinks then if it

were installed upside down.

Default They only have a cutout if you have the Bose. Also, I prefer the rear speakers in the deck, rather

than the door as they reflect off the rear window and provide better imaging than below the front seats in the rear doors.

As for porting the base into the cabin, I personally don't think it's necessary. Mine isn't ported, and if it were, I wouldn't be able to sit in the car with all the punch you feel right through the seats.

Default Actually, from what I understand, the best imaging comes from putting the tweeters at ear level and

as close to your ears as possible. I think they sound awesome in the doors. Moving them to the dash just makes them farther away and lower.

Default

But the heat escapes up, away from the circuitry (which is a good thing)
