I have a B5 A4.
I should be receieving my Sirius Alpine unit soon. I plan on placing the antenna above the 3rd brake light directly under the back window.
I want to know if there is a standard or preferred way to route the wiring? Perhaps I should not even place it there. I thought it would be the best place as opposed to mounting on the exterior of the vehicle.
I already have an aftermarket audio setup. I supose I could follow the wiring for that.
I want to have the cleanest look possible.
Anyone have experience?
Thanks guys!

..as long as you don't have metallic tint on your rear glass, you should be OK with mounting it under the rear deck.
Good luck!

i have one of the portable units mounted in the ashtray up front so i ran the wire like this:
i ran the wire under the rear deck, down under the uphostery along the opening to the trunk behind the rear seats, then under the seat (where i coiled up the extra wire), across the driveshaft tunnel in the rear (too lazy to go under the carpet), along the drivers side of the center console under the plastic and up into the ashtray area.
not a pro install by any means but it looks ok and the reception is fine
