I'm fed up with the problems and medium in quality results that the current amp (the crappy SPL Dynamics) has supplied me with so far. So I decided to buy a new and get rid of my problems, while enjoy endless hours of pure, fine music inside the car while driving.
I paid a visit to the audio shop (2 of them actually) and had a few suggestions offered, so I'm gonna need your advice
One thing that is sure, is that the amp will definetely be Audison! Another thing that I'll most likely do is to get a different sub of higher quality too, to make the watts delivered by this high end amp worth. The sub will probably be a 11" Focal one (since I don't like loud low frequencies, just a fill in the sound)
For referrence, I only have a set of Focal components in the front doors (K2 Power 165KP = 2x80 W RMS @ 4 Ohm) and a Becker HU. The rest that will be replaced is an MTX 12" 4500 thunder sub and an SPL Dynamics 5ch. amp.
FYI, VRx is the top line, LRx the middle one, while SRx is the lowest in terms of quality etc, from the Audison product line. The sub might be this one (Focal Access 27A, 250W RMS) :
<img src="http://www.focal-america.com/catalog/Access/Images/big_27_A.jpg">
1st suggestion : simply swap the amp with an Audison VRx 4.300 (obviously will work as a 3ch.)
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/big/vrxf4oto.jpg">
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/vrx4300tab.gif">
(I got a question here, can't it be adjusted when bridged as a 3ch. to produce more power through the 2 channels than the 2x102 W it says?)
2nd suggestion : swap the amp with an Audison LRx 5.600 . So as to give more power to the fronts (4 ch.) and less to the sub (which I don't use much)
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/big/lrx5foto.jpg">
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/lrx5tab.gif">
3rd suggestion : get two amps, an SRx 2s (2ch.) and an LRx 1.400 mono (for the sub).
SRx 2s
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/big/srx2sfoto.jpg">
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/srx2stab.gif">
LRx 1.400
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/big/lrx1foto.jpg">
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/lrx1tab.gif">
There's also a suggestion that I add a set of mid-range speakers to work with the Focals, so as to cure the problem of "mid-frequencies lack", but the tech guy said that the amp alone would rectify things and I probably wouldn't need them. What do you think? Could they prove necessairy?
Which of the above setups do you think that would give the best result, in terms of power and sound quality together? Is the 2 amps setup excessive? I know that the VRx amp is the best of all, but would the 2x102 W be enough to drive my demanding for power Focals? Also, how do you think that the use of perhaps an inferior Audison amp (VRx > LRx > SRx) affect the sound? Would the difference be noticeable? And generally, what would be the best amount of power to drive the Focal components and sub respectively?
Thanks in advance for any possible advice. I trust you knowledge and experience more than anybody else's, so I would trully appreciate any kind of help.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audison.com/default.asp?lang=eng">http://www.audison.com/default.asp?lang=eng</a</li></ul>

The only difference will be in power output and processing features. I also think that you wouldn't benefit from another set of midranges. The increase in power may affect the sound a little bit but it sounds like you need to get some sort of EQ to dial in your sound. I also think that changing subs won't do much for you either since you say you don't push it real hard. If you're not getting good low frequency extension, it's probably because of the enclosure and not the speaker itself.
If I were you, I would probably get the 4 channel amp to power the fronts (ch 1 & 2) and the sub (brindge ch 3 & 4), keep your current subwoofer, skip on the extra midranges and use the money saved to buy in EQ.

SM24 (Mono Subsonic Filter module)
PC36 (Phase Control module)
PRM3 (Parametric Equaliser) (the VRx 4.300 has two of them, for both of the two sets of channels)
<img src="http://www.audison.it/content/vrx4efoto.jpg">
Is the PRM3 the kind of EQ you're referring to? Sorry, I'm still a noob.

Do you think that the power for the front Focal components from the VRx, would be adequate to vibrate them hard? That's my only concern (since I'm 100% that the quality will be the best)...

I might try it on first and see how it sounds with the VRx. I'll let you know of the results and the final decision I'm gonna make. Thanks for your input, I greatly appreciate it.
