Default Speaker locations..

I currently have the stock setup 5.25" speakers and 1" tweeters in the back doors and 4" speakers in the front dash. That's all this car came with.

Anyway iv been looking into it and I want to put 6.5" speakers and 1" tweeters in the rear and then cram a set of 5.25" speakers in the front dash. I can get it to fit that's not the problem.

Problem is how will it sound Will the speakers in the back out weigh the front speakers in sound? Don't ask what kind of speakers just pretend I am using a good set or your favorite kind.

Maybe I should do that setup and then add a set of 6.5" speakers in the front door? If I do this should I add 2 more tweeters to make a total of 4 tweeters two in the front and two in the back?

I don't plan on adding a box in the trunk right away but I will eventually be adding two 12's or 10's.

Thanks guys!

Default what are you trying to accomplish?

tweeters behind your head will kill your imaging and clarity.

rear fill with more power than up front will kill your imaging and clarity.

most cars just dont run rear fill at all. people who insist on rear fill run about 1/5th the power of the fronts with no tweeters. you want most of the sound coming from the front.

having speakers in your dash AND adding a pair into your doors will really kill your clarity if not installed properly. you COULD get it to work you but you need to keep your pathlengths equal especially from your 2 sets of speakers on the same side. then you have to take into account any phasing issues you run into and installation of the speakers at on/off axis. then you start running into cancellation issues.

you would need to take a million different things into account and in general extremely difficult to do by anybody, including your best car audio shops. car audio environment is not very good as you have tremendous cabin gain and short pathlengths and cancellation issues because of different surfaces at different angles.

keep it simple. try to fit a 6.5 component set in the front. 1 tweeter and 1 mid per side.

take out your rears or if you insist run rear mids but with low power. keep pathlengths in mind when installing and play with mounting angles to see what sounds best to you.

Default Thanks new idea :)

First The car came stock with tweeters in the back :/ The car came stock with this setup; 5.25" and 1" in the back doors. 4" in the front dash.

Now I would like to accomplish a little bit of bass. So this is the new idea. Replace the rear with new 5.25" mid range speaker and a 1" separated tweeter. Replace the front with a 5.25" In dash speaker (should I put mid range or something else here) and put some 6.5" in the front doors where there where no speakers before for bass.

How does that sound? So that's a total of 2 tweeters in the back and 2 5.25" speakers in the back, one on each side. And a total of 2 6.5" speakers in the front and 2 5.25" speakers in the front. Let me know of what you think of this idea.

The 6.5" speakers will be for bass.

Default you need tweeters in front

putting them in back pulls all your sound back

Default The tweeters in teh back are about 5" away from the B piller.

I can add tweeters in the front but is 4 tweeters going to be too much?

Default Ok ok... but will it sound bad if I kept tweeters in the back and put two more up front..

I dont really want to illiminate any stock locations unless its going to effect sound quality. Thanks you guys are great and sorry you all have to put up with my noob questions.

Default in a true audiophile sense, yes it will sound bad

however some people dont know/dont care.

tweeters in the back really mess up your staging and pull it WAY back.
