Default speaker problems

i have recently changed out my stock speakers which at first worked fine. then a few days later i changed the head unit now the rear speakers dont work. any suggestions on what the problem may be? i have a 99 a4 without bose.

Default The rear speakers are powered by their own amp

You need to run new speaker cable from the HU to the rears, or try an adapter which will provide standard RCA's from the Audi loom. I would rewire the rears and by pass the Audi amp as you'll have more power/quality from the HU than the puny amp, and also people have had no end of interference problems using the adapters as the lo level Audi wiring is really naff.
